Summertime Sadness

summer_2

Lately Paris seems to smell a bit, streets covered in poverty and gypsy thieves and never as romantic as they used to be. Spring completely eluded us there, so I was happy to be sent stateside for the weekend for some work events. Certainly a nice occasion to spend some time with east coast family and lie by the beach to kick off summer. Sand between my toes, summer sunsets, and new york nights can always fix me up just right.

The Night Before Christmas

christmas_08

It’s not quite a white Christmas in New York this year…but it is a wonderful one! Enjoying the season here between searching the city for Christmas treats at Dean and Deluca, trees a glow with sparkling lights, and ice skating and carriage rides at Cental Park

Now if we could all just get through a holiday without talking politics how perfect everything would be! Oh well…nothing a Christmas cocktail can’t fix. I hope Santa climbs down all your chimneys tonight and leaves you lots of goodies, but if not you can still win the giveaway!

Autumn in New York

autumn_new_york_11.jpg_effected

Autumn on the eastern seaboard has enough color to make a California girl like me simply giddy. This season in Paris is beautiful, but there is nothing quite like the fall colors of the east coast. Thus what a joy it’s been to frequent many times this year. To most people New York is the city that never sleeps or ceases to bustle, but  I’m a Brooklyn girl. I keep my cool in this calmer borough enjoying time with my family this time for Thanksgiving.

Devils on Horseback at Thanksgiving dinner. Wrap pitted dates in bacon and fasten with toothpicks (soaked in water before so they don't burn). Bake in oven at 400 degrees farenheit for 25 minutes.
