Hi babydolls, did you have a nice weekend? I am still feeling a bit down so I tried to do some stuff to cheer up this weekend. We went to one of those cheez-ball 50′s diners they are opening here in France. You know the ones that make French people think that in America we live off of fries and chilly cheese burgers and anything we can put ketchup on? Well it’s was good for nothing (seriously yuck! Never go to Happy Days diner, it will just make you sad), but the shake was good so I went for an oreo one and then a strawberry one.

Amaro above with his eyes on the fries. It was gay pride weekend so of course there were parades of people all over the marais celebrating and so many colorful balloons and flags set up.

We decided to take the batobus on the water to go around on the river. Sometimes even after years of living in Paris, it’s good to be a tourist for a day and remind yourself how beautiful it is and why we are lucky to live here.

I wore my favorite vintage Lolita like dress out. Fits me a bit tighter than last year but trying to take care of that with my new gym membership. Reminds me of things my mom used to dress me in for tea parties when I four years old, which is probably why I like it so much. I’m wearing it with my new Garrice motorcycle boots. I feel like I searched a year and a half for the perfect pair of basic mini motos…and I finally found them! Other than that I am wearing Sofia‘s rhinestone bracelet she forgot chez-moi (hehe) and enamel bangle sent to me exactly one year ago by my mom for my birthday (ugh yes tomorrow I will be 23), and a vintage beaded bag inherited from my late grandmother.

Okay little beauties there is laundry and cleaning to be done around this home here. Massive heatwave right now in Paris so I am just really relieved I had my fridge delivered Saturday morning and invested in a fan. I will see you around on my facebook, twitter, and my inspiration tumblr until my next post. Kisses and cracking a smile just for you :-)

That milkshake looks delicious! And the photos are just lovely. One of my favorites would have to be of the balloons since I just love how colorful they are.

  5. i always am in for a fashion paradox; this is like the dior girl has gone wild. the flower dress reminds me of the Dior perfume campaign! (and the balloons emphasize that). i love love the dress not only for the amazing print but also because of the shape! how wild can sleeves be, love the movement and the puffiness so so much.

  6. Bec says:

Pride in Paris looks so much more refined than San Francisco-I’m still overwhelmed every time this weekend comes around! And the Happy Days diner’s milkshake looks delicious, but it’s hard to make a better burger than In-N-Out!

Here’s to you feeling better!! You look lovely as always, and I couldn’t agree more about the diner- I was in Spain and a friend told me about an American restaurant and all the food was cheese sticks, hamburgers, and fries, wings, heart attack food!! I don’t get it?? As if American food is only about greasy fried food. Anyway, i love the photos and I love your dress and boots- you look so cute!! Have a lovely day Mon Cheri!!

  20. Meg says:

Haleigh! Adorable photos. I hope pride was fun, it was pride here in NYC as well…! And Happy Days diner does have gross food, and you described it perfectly. Milkshakes = heaven.
    A bientot,
    Meg

  21. Gorgeous dress and I like it teamed with boots..I always like boots with dresses sometimes!! Happy Days diner doesn’t sound so great to me really, but at least you got out and did something when not feeling so well, it helps at times!! Enjoy the sunshine darling and all will be just grand!! Have a great week xxx

  23. Colleen says:

Wow, I can’t believe we’re almost the same age! I feel like you’ve done so much more with your life. I would love to see an American diner in Paris…actually, that’s a good idea for a restaurant name, don’t you think?

  24. Isabelle says:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY mon amie! You look fantastic! Isabelle XXX

  25. vimari says:

    brava, beautiful photos <3

  26. Now I’m sad… your blue hair is gone. I spoke to a few people (a woman with purple bangs at the Black Wool Sheep Gathering – for knitters and goat, sheep and llama owners) and she said the color only lasted for 5 or 6 days – I guess she’s right.

Thanks for the heads up about the Happy Day’s Diner in Paris. Although I’ve always stayed away from American fast food in Europe – there’s enough of it here. BUT, when I was living (3 years) in Germany I couldn’t wait to visit the Kentucy Fried Chicken (UGH, UGH, UGH) when it opened – perhaps in Paris ??? That was back in historic times – 1967.

  27. Hazel says:

  31. Betty says:

    Dear Haleigh,
I’m glad you were able to find something at the diner you liked!! We were a bit surprised when we visited to see several American-themed or American-named restaurants or foods named after U.S. states they had nothing to do with! We just kind of looked at each other and giggled, thinking, “We come to Paris for the first time from the States and this is what we see?” We stopped by a Starbucks to look for mugs to take back home on our last day (the one in Le Marais!!) and were puzzled to see “le sandwich Indiana” (?!?!?).

I hope you are feeling better now and I hope it brings you a bit more happiness to know how much sunshine you bring to our lives with your photos from our favorite place!

    Wishing you a wonderful Friday!

    Betty
