This month the grey ceiling that hovers above us in Paris all winter feels like it’s falling down on me. I mean this figuratively and literally, the pressure of the world just caving in my chest and making it harder to breathe. I’m sure I’m not the only one that gets this way…it’s a symptom of overwhelming responsibility and inflated hopes. People will always say to think positive and look on the bright side, but this time I think I spent all my optimism back in the year the world was supposed to end. Sometimes sadness is like the winter, you just have to wait it out. Keep yourself warm with friends and phoning home because it’s a cold world out there and were not always at our best to face it. For now, I’m okay with that. I don’t need to kick ass tomorrow before it comes as long as it snows now and then to remind me there’s still some magic left in the world. When it does I’m still brave enough to go out for a while and try something new…

That’s not much snow compared to here in the Netherlands haha.

Super pretty photos, as usual of course :) I really hate this time of the year, when the days are grey and cold… It’s awful. I can’t wait for spring though!

beautiful, babe! x
I also cannot wait for the sun to come out. Being Australian I neeeeeed it. Today I went to the market near my apartment in the 17th and I couldn’t feel my hands after carrying my vegetables home! I hope your Winter blues go away quick smart!

You are just too cute in that little bow you’ve got in your hair :)

I so wanna go to Paris, specially when I see your happy pics :)
I missed the snow, the cold didn’t make me want to go out! Beautiful pictures
I loved this post, what a beautiful way to present the winter blues. Your blog is a bright spot in my life and I hope lots more bright spots shine through in your life very soon! Besos and bisous
I understand. I’m right there with you. Here’s to waiting out the grey skies.
I am SO over winter, as well. These wonderful little vignettes have made me smile, though :)
Snowing in Maine…the grey days are a little depressing but before you know it the sun will be shining once again. ;-)
beautiful pictures as always. love your pants!
Haleigh, I totally understand how you feel! The weather here in Paris has been depressing me too. I’m from Arizona, and getting used to the grey, harsh winter of Paris has not been easy. But look! We have sun today!
I blogged about my Paris blues a little while ago, http://untetheredasacloud.wordpress.com/2013/01/08/letter-from-paris-halfway-through/, and I was amazed at how many people I knew here shared my sentiment. We’ve rallied each other’s optimism, now, and I think things are looking up.
I know you’ve been living here a long time and have all your routines and friends and communities, but if you ever want to meet up à prendre un verre et échanger des histoires, I would be more than happy to :)
Thanks for making your blog such a beautiful, magical escape!

I absolutely LOVE snow, and I was so happy to see some fall over Paris! It didn’t stay on the ground in my part of town, but at least I got to go out and smile at the sky while the flakes kissed my face, just like in one of your photos.
I hope you’re feeling better now that the sun is back! Things tend to seem a little lighter when the skies are brighter. Enjoy the sunshine!
I wish I could send you a hug and warm cup of tea, but then again that might be kind of weird coming from a stranger..:) I’ m feeling whatever it is that January brought with it and feeling the heaviness of unmet dreams, but some of us are visionaries, we see way into the future and then beat ourselves up for not being there. Regardless of if that’ s what you meant I hope something really amazing takes you by surprise this month :) <3
thanks so much dear :-) well said :-)
Lovely photos, we have some heavy snow in Zagreb, and it’s beautiful.
Beautiful pictures. Do you have a favourite place in Paris that you like to take pictures of?
