I found this postcard in a junk shop in Paris two years ago. It was amongst a stack of old papers and I thought “Wow, I wonder where this is…I want to go there someday.”  It’s still on my bucket list and I kept catching myself looking at it from time to time trying to figure out where it’s from. Then I finally realized how stupid I had been and that indeed it was written right on the back all along: Schwetzingen. Funny thing is, it’s not far at all. I could drive there, in fact I think I finally will this summer. Who would have thought in the middle of a junk shop I would find my fairytale?

I am nearly 24 years old and I still call my mother Mommy (always). Aside from the fact that she just happens to be mine, I could tell you all the millions of reasons I have to love my mother. But what’s important today is that I tell her that, what I just wanted to say here is…what a babe! And so well dressed…you can see where I got my hair. Happy Mother’s day to everyone. P.S. So what gives? I’ve started thinking about this media matrix we live in today and where we find our rightful place in it as contributors and consumers, on and offline. I starting piecing my thoughts together. I’ve been listening to Tavi’s talk on TED, reading her RookieMag , and watching Lena Dunham’s Tiny Furniture and  Girls on HBO. I love relating to girls and women trying to make sense of themselves and accepting sometimes we don’t make sense at all. I like finding that we each have unique stories, some crazier than others, yet can relate with common questions, frustrations, and  joys. I find myself believing once again in the importance of young women telling stories in a thoughtful way. Media consumption is one thing, but making sense of it in a conscious way is entirely another. I hope your visits here will draw on these things, and from now on I think I’ll focus on creating that here.

We all want to believe we are exceptional, yet at the same time we want to belong with the rest. When we’re young we’re encouraged and defined by our dreams. We dream of having all the things we want, like true love to name one. Then time creeps up on us  and puts us in this pivotal place where we’re no longer defined by dreams, but by the actions we take to make our dreams come true. We spend our youth searching for ourselves and our true love. We find ourself, we find our true love, and then we find we’re confronted with a whole new challenge of continually evolving into someone still inspiring and worthy of love. For now that’s all I know, unsure of what comes next in our common narrative, but figuring that out is what I think this story here will be about. At times a mashup of clothes, outfits, friends, travels, songs, etc. specific to me but with a greater purpose, something you can all make sense of in a thoughtful way that’s relevant to you. Sometimes we are lost, sometimes we don’t want to be found, and sometimes we want so scream from the top of the Eiffel Tower that life is a fucking blast and we should all get together and celebrate the absurdity of it all.

This outfit pretty much sums up my style lately. I’m shying away from my girlie girl side, finding my inner rebel and value practicality and comfort above all in my clothes! There’s still that part of me though that shows up with a sweet tooth in crinolines and lace peering out from dirty vintage denim and leather. I like the contrast of it all.

Since two weeks the sun has been blaring through my window, and people I love in and out my front door to stir small adventures and nourish me back to life when work has taken too much. Well well, there seems to be a million reasons to be excited these days, the sun out in full force for ten days now without leaving!
