Dreamy magazine tear outs around the house. Roses in the tub for me and no one else. Staying in Sunday nights with popcorn, a movie, and friends with bad boys broken hearts. Too many shoes to fit in the closet. Spending money we don’t have on lingerie we don’t need. Mini skirts even on days that call for boots. Buying ourselves flowers because boys don’t. Staying after hours and drinking for free because we can. Never getting too old for carousels, and walks through lost Paris everyday like it’s our first time. Behaving badly in public places. This is what makes us girls…

I don’t really have a walk in closet…I have more of a “walk up” closet which in french we call a “dressing.” I haven’t had much time for dress up lately so I figured I would give the clothes the spotlight they have been missing while I am inside my house all winter slaving away on my computer for work in my pajamas (yes, shamefully many days I work in pajamas!). This aren’t really the genre of photos I normally share on here, more like for show than really my photography I like to do, but so many readers ask about my closet I felt I should give you something! My closet actually used to be the kitchen of this apartment. I don’t really give two pouts about fashion…but clothes…I LOVE CLOTHES. This closet is my treasure chest of goodies I have carefully collected and curated over the years from all over the world, and Paris especially.

And speaking of Paris, and shopping and clothes and all that I have an other very special announcement! My darling mom who put me on this earth is hosting a very special Paris shopping trip this may! Now while I may be the resident family member in Paris, trust me Jermaine (my mom!) has the whole town fooled. The minute she touches down in Paris she knows how to shop the markets, auctions, brocantes, and fleas of this city better than any Frenchies, probably because she spends her time while I am working being whisked around on the scooters of Paris’ finest art and antiques connoisseurs. And if you know my mom you know she loves a good chat and has gotten the scoop from them all over the last twenty years. She’s definitely not green when it comes to shopping for clothes here, but she has asked me to step in and co-host this part of the trip, and I happily obliged creating a Paris shopping dream itinerary to keep us busy most the day with plenty of time the other thing one should do in Paris, EAT WELL! Sitting inside the cafe we laughed playing “would you rather” when it started falling. Not the shy reluctant powder that dusted the weekend, but real snow. A sprinkle turned to howling but we covered our noses and navigated the gentle blizzard to a hideout for one last drink. On the way back we took our time, like kids at recess throwing snowballs with only our excitement to keep us warm. We went our separate ways, through the quiet back to our homes. Thawing and staring wide eyed out the window, snowflakes still on our eyelashes, we took it in and taking chances went off to sleep, knowing as it often does the morning sun might melt it before we wake up. Whatever may be we enjoyed it to the fullest, only if for a night.

It hadn’t snowed all season in Paris. But this morning as Mariell, Jostein and I woke up in Paris to spend their day visiting me and the city there was a magic dust of white powder just thick enough to call it a snow day. The cold definitely matched the looks of things outside, but we were brave enough to head out for the sake of vintage shopping and Pierre Hermé, which is a tradition on the Paris to do list for what are now becoming regular visits from M+J. We froze our toes and fingers off in the Tuileries and Chris and Sofia were nice enough to take us in and warm us up with friendly love, tea, and later on some creative cocktails. We polished off the day with some pink flamingo pizzas and have been hiding out home tonight staying warm. It was the perfect way to spend a sunday snow day.

Hi babydolls! So busy these days but doing my best to keep in touch posting here . I’ve taken on two new clients this week just before the official launch of my own massive personal project I have had in the works for six months now (dying to tell you all this news) and working on some production stuff for another potential project I just simply couldn’t turn down. You can practically (okay actually!) see the bags under my eyes in these pictures, but hey nothing a little sparkles and a pop of red can’t fix! I’m just trying to keep it all together so lots of layering with a cute dress my quick way to pull a nice bit of style together.

Hi babydolls! Sometimes it’s hard to find the balance between work and play. Lately in life I feel like there is no line to draw between the two. I am doing what I love and loving what I do: running around the city in coats and crinolines on errands with Emilie, cameras in tow playing muse for one another when we stop and feel inspired, work chat over mid fashion week lunches at Mamie Gateau with Valentine, setting up photo shoots for new projects and wrapping up work days with evenings drinking minty cocktails in Oberkampff. By a little chance and lots of work I try to step back often and realize I am living my dream, days like these make it ever more clear to me…

Hi babydolls! When did we stop wearing things like petticoats? There’s nothing like the same boxy wool coat everyday to really make a winter wardrobe feel drab. So I threw in a petticoat to add some shape, some booties and a beret!

I’m no local but I would guess there is a wrong and many right ways to spend a late afternoon in Cape Town. This has got to be one of the right ways: a beach walk and beers at Camp’s Bay then a drive up Signal Hill to set off on a twilight hike up Lion’s Head to watch the sun set and the full moon rise over the harbor. There isn’t a lot I would trade for the good life in Paris, but a Cape Town sundowner makes me wonder if I might have met the match…

I’m wearing vintage Levi’s 501s, a Forever 21 “Heavenly” tee, Frassy Rags sunnies, and Tory Burch slippers. My stories from Cape Town have now come to an end, but I left a little piece of my heart there in good hands. I hope it won’t be too long before I can go back and relive it all.
