Perspective

travel_4.jpg_effected

Lately life is flying by in a series of takeoffs and landings. After feeling stagnant for several years not moving much at all, the last couple months have literally lifted me up. There’s something to be said about what travel does for the human spirit. New places bring us new experiences of course, but this space between here and there might be the most reflexive of all. Most our life is constructed around borders wether we realize it or not, tethering ourselves to home, city, country. etc. Then all of a sudden we’re thousands of feet in the sky and the world seems so small. Looking down, feet off the ground, maybe we’re reminded that our souls are transient, belonging to nowhere and everywhere at the same time, like anything is possible for us wherever we may choose. I’ve spent a lot of time looking out my window seat lately and realized I’ve snapped so many pictures in route….

Pictures from last week in New York City, the coast of Bretagne in France, the Adriatic Sea near Croatia, Long Island New York, and California. Believe it or not I am about to get on another plane this afternoon…this time to Italy! I’ll be spending a week in the Basilicata region on the Can’t Forget Italy project producing a two minute film. You can follow the adventure as it happens here and here as well as on my facebook, twitter, and tumblr. Of course soon I will have the film and new photos from this adventure. Until then bisous from high in the sky!

Summer Heart

SUMMER_TRAVEL_03.jpg_effected

Hi babydolls! My summer heart gets very nostalgic at this time of year when I feel this season slowly subsiding. In Paris we are in an indian summer, September 1st brought us warmer weather of all things and sun and skies so pure it makes me giddy. This summer was so special to me traveling the world, making memories with old friends and new ones, and rediscovering my independence in more ways than one. Sometimes when we’re serious when we’re young, we build invisible borders around our life that we let govern us for too long, forgetting how much freedom we really can have. With just a little vacation and throwing our responsibilities to the wind for a short while we rediscover our summer hearts…our free spirits, our spontaneity, our inner water baby, our eternal youth. We come back from our adventures wearing our freckles and tan lines knowing well they too will soon fade away like the summertime…

Above are just some left over photos from some but not all of my summer travels around the globe. I wish I could spend almost all my time in the sun and water for sport and relaxation with friends followed with hot summer nights dancing, drinking, and laughing way too much. But I guess if we could do that every day it would be taken for granted. I hope your summer was filled with adventure. Maybe you’ll share some of it with us here in the comments or on  twitter, facebook, and tumblr. Byebye for now dears! P.S. I got a very nice shootout in the favorite style bloggers section of Matchbook Mag this month. Please visit the new issue if you haven’t already.

Another Borough

brooklyn_nyc_11.jpg_effected

Brooklyn that is! I guess I used to be a West Village gal but ever since my big sister moved to Brooklyn it seems the only place I really feel at home in NYC. You can leave downtown to the bridge and tunnel and uptown to the gossip girls because Brooklyn has my heart. I love this more casual, calm, and dare I say authentic New York borough now and thus was more than happy to spend almost my entire visit as a Brooklyn babe. Thanks to Mariell through whom I was reminded of this song…

A couple of you asked me to post my favorite spots in Brooklyn and I am more than happy to oblige! Of course I wouldn’t have discovered them without the help of my sister’s and friend’s suggestions! For breakfast or lunch head to Bakeri or Egg. For shopping new check out Bird and for vintage Beacon’s Closet. For dinner eat your heart out at Fette Sau and Five Leaves, and then for drinks and a party stop into Enid’s or Night of Joy. New York, I love you! I’ll be back soon but for now I am home in Paris, which I will be blogging about again soon. So excited for la rentrée…this year is going to be epic…just wait and see! Until next time be sure to follow the facebook fan page, twitter, and tumblr for updates! Kisses!

P.S. I love taking pics of Sofia and Chris. They’re so photogenic. Be sure to check out their tumblers where they share pictures of their world travels!
