A hair tutorial on Making Magique has been many years in the making. Of all the FAQ’s gals get, for me, it’s always been about hair. My friends at Bumble and bumble sent over some new stuff for me to play around with and I thought the Bb. Thickening Dryspun Finish was the perfect product to compliment my day-to-day style. I love a natural vibe, a soft bed head wave that’s feminine but looks lived in. With my straight hair this actually requires a little bit of work for me to achieve. Here’s the breakdown!
Start with fresh hair, newly washed or a few days in. My hair is naturally straight and very dry and brittle at the tips. So, before starting I like to use a hair oil on the ends to moisturize and make them shinier. Applying one like Bumble and bumble‘s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil will not only help hair quality in the long term but make your waves and curls at the end shiny and bouncy.
Section your hair into parts and spray the Dryspun Finish from about an arms length on to your roots throughout. This will give you lift from root to tip for the volume you want. This spray has a dry finish, so don’t worry about stickiness, it’s okay to apply more more than typical hairspray. With texture at the roots your hair will grab and fall where you like, keeping volume even if you tousle and switch your part around.
To achieve a nice natural wave and curl, use a medium to large barrel curling iron on a high setting. Take medium to large pieces of hair and twist them root to tip. Take the twisted strand and wrap it around the curling iron and hold for about 25 seconds. Let go and set the waves with the Dryspun Finish. Loosen waves with your fingers or for really big volume brush them out!
When done curling, pull your hair back and give your front roots a final spray if you want a nice lift away from your face like I do.
Et voila! That’s how I get the look I love with my hair. The Dryspun Finish is also perfect to bring life back into flat and lifeless styles if you need to put a little oomph back in your look at any time, even if roots are oily and in need of a wash the dry and textured finish will be a quick fix. Let me know if you like to see more tutorials like this, and thanks to Bumble & bumble for the goodies.
